Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts!  Here's a FINE example of a
subdued olive-drab
unit logo patch for
Third Marine Division.
During WWII, Marines actually wore these as a shoulder sleeve insignia.  The practice was discontinued in 1947, but the patches are still worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.  (This, of course, is not a WWII patch, but a modern subdued variant.)

3rd Marine Division has a long, distinguished list of battle honors, beginning in WWII with hard-fought battles in places like
Bougainville
and
Iwo Jima!
During the Vietnam War the division deployed officially from 1965-69, adding names like
Hue
and
Khe Sanh
to their battle history!   Division is based in Okinawa, Japan.
Recent Decades:
Of course, Marines from 3rd Division made history all over the world in the
Global War on Terror!
Units from 3d MarDiv rotated in and out of both Iraq and Afghanistan.  And given their locale, it's a safe bet 3rd MarDiv units helped in the
Tsunami Relief Effort!
This is a NEW and UNUSED patch.  It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item!  Thick-textured, full-embroidered with merrowed edge.
