Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts!  This is a FINE example of a unit logo patch for
Third Battalion, Twenty-Fifth Marines.
These can't be found just anywhere!
Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.
3d Bn, 25th Marines is a reserve unit, with headquarters in Brookpark, Ohio.  Subordinate units are based in Ohio, New York, and West Virginia.  Sharp-eyed collectors will notice the similarity of this patch to the 25th Marines
regimental
patch, with the addition of the
“THIRD BATTALION”
scroll and the card hand showing
“THREE - DEUCE - FIVE.”
Note the small diamond-shaped 4th Marine Division logo above the Eagle, Globe & Anchor.  The 4th MarDiv is the parent unit for all of the USMC Reserve ground combat elements.
The unit has a distinguished list of battle honors from WWII including the likes of
Kwajalein, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima!
That makes this a
great
item for
WW2 veterans,
as well as reservists and collectors!
Recent Decades:
Beginning March 2005 this unit served in
Operation Iraqi Freedom!
Serving Al Anbar province in the western Iraq area, the battalion suffered heavy casualties as they participated in several major operations.  They returned home late September 2005.
This is a BRAND NEW and UNUSED patch.  It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item!  Note that this is a
smaller
patch, ideally suited for a ball cap.  Embroidered on red twill with cut (non-merrowed) edge and plastic heat-sealed backing (as shown in 2nd photo.)  Colors are clean and bright.  See ruler in photo for size comparison.
