USMC 1st Battalion/9th Marines alt PATCH Caltrop with DRAGON Walking Dead ! 1/9

Description

Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts!  This is a FINE example of an alternate logo patch for the
First Battalion, Ninth Marines.
These can't be found just anywhere!
Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.
This patch design was used (I believe) in the eighties or nineties.
Caltrop
on patch denotes association with 3rd MarDiv and
dragon
may suggest Asian (or WestPac) theater of deployment.

1st Bn, 9th Marines has a long, distinguished list of battle honors from both
WWII
and
Vietnam.
For
Operation Desert Storm
they remained at Camp Pendleton with 15th MEU (SOC).  Known as
THE WALKING DEAD,
the unit was traditionally part of the 3rd Marine Division.
Recent Decades:
Ninth Marine Regiment was deactivated in 1994.  But with recent increases in military strength, 1/9 was
reactivated
at Camp Lejeune.  The official date of reactivation was April 18, 2007, but it is worth noting that in April 2006
A Company (Rein)
deployed on short notice, and served through October 2006 in
Operation Iraqi Freedom!
This is a BRAND NEW an UNUSED patch.  It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item!  Note that this is a
smaller
patch, ideally suited for a ball cap.  Embroidered on blue twill with cut (non-merrowed) edge and plastic heat-sealed backing.  Colors are clean and bright.  See ruler for size comparison.
