Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts!  This is a FINE example of a unit logo patch for
Fourteenth Marine Regiment.
These can't be found just anywhere!
Not, of course, allowed on the uniform, but worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items.
14th Marines is a reserve artillery regiment headquartered in Fort Worth, TX.  Its component units are based all across the country.  The regiment was initially activated in 1918, only to be disbanded in less than a year.  Reactivated in 1943, they served in the WWII campaigns of
Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian
and
Iwo Jima!
Again deactivated in 1945, they were reactivated in 1962 as a reserve regiment.  They are ultimately part of  4th MarDiv, which is the parent unit of all USMC Reserve ground combat elements.  In the early 1990s, elements of 14th Regiment served honorably in
Operation Desert Storm
with individual batteries reinforcing artillery units of 1st and 2nd MarDiv!
Recent Decades:
Of course, the Marines of 14th Regiment made history once again in hard-fought battles of
Operation Iraqi Freedom!
The regiment sent individual batteries to serve in Iraq, but many deployments are difficult to chronicle, with artillery units being assigned
infantry
and
security
roles, as well as attachment to other regiments.
