There is a lovely embossed pattern of 3 flowers and leaves on both sides of the teapot. The teapot and its lid are free of chips or cracks. There is crazing of the glaze seen on the outside and inside. The inside has some mild staining. There are minor glaze pops on the inside rim and I see a few tiny extra clumps of clay under the glaze here and there. This is typical of pottery from this era.
This teapot dates to the mid-1940s.  I had a difficult time attributing this piece to the correct maker. My first guess was Shawnee Pottery but the glaze color and markings were not exactly right.  I then thought it could be Hull Pottery which took over management of Shawnee in 1937, but again the color wasn’t quite right. So, I remembered something I had seen years ago, about the USA marking with the larger S and lack of dots after the letters. This was something that Brush McCoy did on occasion. In my Sanford’s Guide to Brush McCoy Pottery book I found several items that had the exact same glaze color and very similar embossed floral patterns. I think my sleuthing paid off and I am fairly certain that this is a Brush McCoy teapot!
Thank you for looking.
